Philosophy - Cinnamon Buns Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash

Yum. Philosophy is well known for these all in one body wash, shampoo, and conditioners that smell exactly like pie, cake, and cookies. Other great 'flavors' are pumpkin pie, waffle cone, red delicious apple, and lemon custard. I don't know how they do it, but they get the scents exactly right. There is something so special and decadent about sudsing up in a steamy hot shower surrounded by the smell of some sinful dessert. Call me crazy, but it seems to satisfy my cravings for sweets. The cinnamon buns is really wonderful. I'm sad when I don't have a bottle of this in my shower. I don't miss any of the other 'flavors' but this one is a must have. Plus this formulation is a good shampoo/conditioner combo to have in your rotation for those days when you don't have a lot of time to wash your hair. As a body wash it's fantastic, very moisturizing. So much so, you really don't need a shave gel. As a bubble bath, it's amazing. When you think about it, you get a lot of bang for your $16. Yum.

So recently I dealt with a difficult loss. I was in pretty bad shape and after a week or so found myself looking at a truly messed up stranger in the mirror. Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence; Essence-Like, Oil-Like

My dearest husband surprised me for my birthday last year by going to a beauty store in Korea Town, Los Angeles to buy me skin care. He says he finally figured it out. Skincare for me is like records and CDs are to him. I feel seen. Thanks to the advice of some clearly knowledgeable sales clerks in Korea Town, he got me some truly delightful products. But for me to blog about a product I have to be madly in love. For the record I am currently out of my Huxley Oil Essence and it is frankly affecting my self esteem. This is not an exaggeration. To Good Genes or not to Good Genes. That is the Question.

There is a lot of buzz out there for the cult favorite GOOD GENES ($105). But Sunday Riley, the brand which makes this cult phenomenon is also cultivating a lot of buzz for bad business practices. I'm not one for supporting a company that fakes reviews. Maybe those fake reviews created the buzz to make GOOD GENES phenomenon; maybe they didn't. But in truth real people do love the product. Because lactic acid is an effective ingredient. Lactic acid, is lactic acid though. There are plenty of other brands that carry a good lactic acid product. For a one to one, meaning basically the same product/function, I actually prefer Tata Harper RESURFACING SERUM ($88). GOOD GENES is good but in my experience RESURFACING SERUM from Tata Harper is better and more effective. I recently discovered Thrive OVERNIGHT SENSATION Brightening Sleep Mask ($62) which combines glycolic and lactic acid and that is working well for me right now.
