Covergirl - LASHBLAST


I'm not going to lie.  I really did not want to love this mascara.  Why?  I don't know.  Sometimes I can be bit perverse that way.  Maybe because of the great GreatLash disappointment of 1999.  But I digress, and I certainly don't discuss the loveless.  Obviously I tried Lashblast anyway.  Why?  Because I'm a product whore.  The amount of money I waste on the loveless!  Who cares, because my errant ways have once again led me to some really great mascara.  Fine.  I LOVE Lashblast!  The trick here is an extremely light hand.  Listen to me.  Less is more, and you can certainly add more if necessary.  If you slather this stuff on it will be all over your eye lid and you will most certainly not like me.  It will take you a bit to figure out exactly how this applicator is different.  It's rubber and there is simply no give like there is with a brush.  Keep that in mind.  Once you get the hang of it however, you'll love it!

So recently I dealt with a difficult loss. I was in pretty bad shape and after a week or so found myself looking at a truly messed up stranger in the mirror. Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence; Essence-Like, Oil-Like

My dearest husband surprised me for my birthday last year by going to a beauty store in Korea Town, Los Angeles to buy me skin care. He says he finally figured it out. Skincare for me is like records and CDs are to him. I feel seen. Thanks to the advice of some clearly knowledgeable sales clerks in Korea Town, he got me some truly delightful products. But for me to blog about a product I have to be madly in love. For the record I am currently out of my Huxley Oil Essence and it is frankly affecting my self esteem. This is not an exaggeration. Therefore it occurs to me that I really do need to spread the love on this one. From what I understand Huxley is a favorite among flight attendants. To Good Genes or not to Good Genes. That is the Question.

There is a lot of buzz out there for the cult favorite GOOD GENES ($105). But Sunday Riley, the brand which makes this cult phenomenon is also cultivating a lot of buzz for bad business practices. I'm not one for supporting a company that fakes reviews. Maybe those fake reviews created the buzz to make GOOD GENES phenomenon; maybe they didn't. But in truth real people do love the product. Because lactic acid is an effective ingredient. Lactic acid, is lactic acid though. There are plenty of other brands that carry a good lactic acid product. For a one to one, meaning basically the same product/function, I actually prefer Tata Harper RESURFACING SERUM ($88). GOOD GENES is good but in my experience RESURFACING SERUM from Tata Harper is better and more effective. I recently discovered Thrive OVERNIGHT SENSATION Brightening Sleep Mask ($62) which combines glycolic and lactic acid and that is working well for me right now.
