5 Ingredients That Actually Work!
1) Gentle Exfoliating Mechanism (sugar, jojoba beads, alpha hydroxy acid)
Don't even think about putting something expensive and beneficial on your face without exfoliating your skin! It would be like putting lotion on an unpeeled onion. Nothing's gonna bring that back baby! Putting products on your thick, dead skin is a huge waste of money. Besides, regular exfoliation promotes cell renewal. Hello!
Stay away from products containing nuts. That stuff will tear up your skin, and not in a good way.
2) SPF
The sun is incredibly damaging and we all know it. Put one twin in a basement for 20 years and let the other live life normally, guess which one will look remarkably young for her age? I don't recommend staying inside for 20 years by the way. It sounds like the plot of a promising horror film. That twin's got to be nuts. Get some SPF and live your life people!
3) Retinol
Retinol (vitamin a) works underneath the surface of your skin to stimulate cell growth and reproduction. This is what it's all about friends. Getting rid of the dead, damaged skin and starting fresh! It will take 10 to 12 weeks to see the benefits, but if you are consistent, you will see diminished wrinkles, smaller pores, even skin tone, and firmer skin! You MUST use SPF while you're using retinol however. Your skin will be more photo sensitive which means it will burn faster. The last thing you want to do is create more damage while you’re trying to repair the old damage!
4) Peptides
The collagen in your skin makes it thick, firm, and smooth. When it breaks down, say when you get a sunburn, small chains of amino acids form called peptides which signal your skin to create more collagen to repair the damage. When we get older, those peptides don't produce naturally and our skin doesn't know it needs to produce more collagen. So damage starts to become permanent. Peptides in your cream or serum will theoretically trick your skin into thinking there is damage and send that missing signal to produce more collagen.
By all reputable accounts, drinking or ingesting collagen has no benefit for your skin. So, don't do that.
5) Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid soaks up I don't even know how many times its weight in water. It's like one of those tiny thin as paper sponges. Add water and suddenly you have a moist, bouncy, normal size sponge. With that said, if you apply hyaluronic acid to your skin, it will draw moisture to your skin. It will retain the moisture from your creams and lotions, draw moisture from the environment, and prevent your skin from drying out. We all know that dry, ashy skin looks older. Hyaluronic acid makes your skin look fresh and plump. It also helps ensure that your skin absorbs all the expensive lovely creams and serums you apply so that you actually experience the benefits.
Feel stressed out and dehydrated? Drink some water fool and smear some hyaluronic acid all over your face and neck. No one will suspect what a freak you were last night. B vitamins help too, but I digress. Bloody Mary anyone?
